This week, we encourage you to reflect on all we’ve talked about regarding organic food and the importance of eating clean.
For a fun discovery exercise, go to the grocery store without a particular “list” of exactly what produce and meats you are going to buy. Try, just for fun, to be open minded and spend some time just shopping through the cheeses, meats, eggs, and produce. Look for what kinds of items in your store or market are organic, free-range, and non-GMO, and make choices from there!
Try changing your meal plan to fit your food, rather than fitting your food to meet your meal plan! Bring home the organic vegetables, grass fed meats, and pastured eggs available to you...locally grown, and toxin free! Once home with your goods, put your salads and meals together based on what was available to you, rather than what you necessarily went after! Loosen up! Have an adventure! Embrace Life!
If you brought something home you’ve not eaten before, no worries! There are many recipes out there for you! Discover something new! You may love it!
Discover where your food came from! Allow yourself to think about the food on your plate and just what went into getting it to first to the store and, ultimately, to your plate. Discover how it feels to know that your food was grown without pesticides, your meat without hormones and antibiotics, and your eggs from healthy, happy chickens. Discover just how much nature plays a role in our survival, as well as the importance of respecting that nature, and the sacrifices nature made so that you can eat and feed your family.
Ignorance is not bliss, and it can be toxic. Discover that you deserve better. Discover how it feels to be clean and eat clean!
Restaurants and Eating Out
Now that you know what kinds of foods to enjoy, and what to avoid, hopefully you are more confident, and it is easier to select the foods you want to make up your meals. We’d like you to take that information forward now, and discover how to continue enjoying food in restaurants! We want you to be able to travel without being perplexed as to what you can eat, and we want you to travel while continuing to snack and eat healthily.
Discover restaurants you can go to that serve the quality and kinds of foods you have found work with your lifestyle. Look the menu over carefully, either on site or online (before you get there), and discipline yourself to make healthy choices.
Once your food comes, determine your healthy portion, and put the rest in a “to go” container for tomorrow’s lunch! Estimate the ounces of proteins by the illustrations we gave you, comparing to your palm of your hand, or a deck of playing cards. Have a large portion of your plate be green vegetables!
Discover how empowered you are now! Stop right now, and ask yourself, “Am I making better choices? Am I making different choices?” Evaluate the changes you’ve made since you began the program, and be honest with yourself. What have you added? What have you eliminated? Do you move more than you did? Do you enjoy knowing that you are stronger, that you consume less toxins, that you know the difference?
Look at the menu and CHOOSE! Really, life is all about choices, isn’t it? Why not make good choices that benefit you in a healthy way! Your life matters!
Although your program for this first 5 GEARS is wrapping up, you are welcome to revisit your pages as often as you like! We actually encourage you to do so, because we are always revising and adding new information! You have completed the first 5 Gears of an unlimited lifestyle program. Dr. Korman has much more information to share!
